The End

Hey yall how we doing?

Well, I got home Wednesday night around 7:30pm, went and got released and we went as a family to Andy's Frozen Custard. It has been great being home! Yesterday I gave my homecoming talk and talked about the Atonement of Jesus Christ.

Honestly that last week in the mission probably went by the fastest. We started visiting Carol every morning before lunch and she wants to push her baptismal date back because she doesn't feel ready. But she still came to church on Sunday so that shows that it is sincere. We also had exchanges with the zone leaders and Elder Candia from Peru came with me in my area. We did lots of contacting and not too many actual lessons. It was probably around 7:30 at night when he wanted to head home (to be fair, it does take like 45 minutes to get back to our house) but I thought it was a little too early and decided to knock doors for just 20 more minutes.

Sign says "end of work"

Around 15 minutes in there was a door open with a dude in tattoos sitting on the couch. I didn't think they would be interested and so I was just gonna walk by when I thought "you probably shouldn't judge people, just talk to them real quick." And I'm glad I did! We got a follow up appointment, and we talked to him and his girlfriend. The first thing the girlfriend told us was that she wanted to put her life in order and first and foremost get married so they can keep the commandments. Thats a good sign! Then she shared about how she had been praying this week to know if she was in the right religion and if not, that God would somehow show her the way. I think one of the best feelings in the mission (and in general) is following an impression of the Spirit and then later realizing you answered someone's prayers. Who knows if they will get baptized or not, but I know that I was able to be an instrument in the Lord's hands that day.

And that's what the mission is all about! You are 100% focused on helping people come closer to Christ and try your best to follow the impressions of the Spirit. Interestingly enough, the more you seek the Spirit and pray for opportunities to serve, you will find them! Ask and ye shall receive the Savior said.

I know that Jesus Christ is our perfect example, and our Redeemer. He died so that we can live again. He suffered so that we can be healed. He lived a perfect life because he knew we couldn't. He knows you and he loves you. He invites us to come as we are and then be changed to become more like Him.

Mosiah 15:11-12
11 Behold I say unto you, that whosoever has heard the words of the prophets, yea, all the holy prophets who have prophesied concerning the coming of the Lord—I say unto you, that all those who have hearkened unto their words, and believed that the Lord would redeem his people, and have looked forward to that day for a remission of their sins, I say unto you, that these are his seed, or they are the heirs of the kingdom of God.

12 For these are they whose sins he has borne; these are they for whom he has died, to redeem them from their transgressions. And now, are they not his seed?

We are the seed of God. He loves us. He sent, sends, and will send prophets in order for us to know His will concerning us. I believe in a living God. I believe in a Living Church. I believe in a Living Prophet.

that's all folks
