Just Chillin

Hey guys it has been a good and normal week here in Villa Hermosa! My comp is starting to want to lose weight and so we have started running in the mornings and it's been amazing! Although it's literally all hills lol. But also, this whole week has been super cloudy and cooler weather which is really nice.

But ya just your average week full of miracles! Ana Maria Jaramillo is locked in on getting baptized on the 23rd and we already did all the questions and she's chilling! The family of 5 came to church again yesterday and I think they are starting to make some friends in the classes! On Sunday Miguel came with us on our visits, he's a cool 15-year-old who wants to serve a mission and it was fun.  Also, another person that I was teaching in my last area got baptized on Saturday, Victoria Serna. I am so hyped for her.

Yesterday the Bishop came up to me about 5 minutes before church started and asked me if I would give a talk.  I had heard there had been some contention in the Relief Society and so I went up and gave a talk about being peacemakers and humbling ourselves.  Afterwards a lot of the women in the ward said they really liked it and one even told me that her and her sister have been in a fight for a while but after the talk they like fixed it so that is a good feeling that I was able to play a small part of that.  It was cool to think my little church talk helped someone.

Oh also we had zone conference with President and his wife and it was really cool! Sister Lythgoe shared a video about how if we want to be free and happy, focus on others. Matthew 16:25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. It was really fun and because it was just our zone I was able to talk a little more to President and Hermana Lythgoe and it was really cool! They are really great, hard working people.

This week I've been reading from the Teachings of Joseph F Smith. I really liked one section and thought it applies to all of us today. He talks about how too many members don't know much about the scriptures but know all about the newest novels, which I apply to us as knowing all about the tv shows. He says:
"Some of our good people read many of the books that are published today... but they haven’t time to read the Word of the Lord."
"They know more about novels [or tv shows] than they do about the Bible, the Book of Mormon, and the Doctrine and Covenants—yes, far more."
"it is worth our every effort to understand the truth, each for himself, and to impart it in spirit and practice to our children. … This should be done every day, and in the home, by precept, teaching and example. … Spend ten minutes in reading a chapter from the words of the Lord in the Bible, the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, before you retire, or before you go to your daily toil. Feed your spiritual selves at home, as well as in public places."

This has definitely happened to me before my mission. At the end of the day, I had gone to school, track practice, work, seminary, and hung out with friends and boom it was 10pm and I needed to sleep. What a busy day! I didn't have any spare time. Then I check the screentime and have 1 hour on instagram and 30 minutes on Clash Royale. The point is, there is always time when it's a priority. So make it a priority!

Hope you guys are doing well. And doing good! There is a difference.
