Big Karol G guy huh

It was a fun week two in the transfer.  Elder Bond is cool and we've been working hard.  We had two baptisms this weekend: Louisa y Miguel Anjill.  It was really cool.  They are super faithful and super awesome.  It was kinda rainy but a lot of members still came.  It was cool to see the support.

Afterwards, we bought a bunch of Coke because there was a promotion to trade in for a prize.  So the Colombia Coke bottles had a gold cap if you bought more than a liter worth of Coke, and then you could trade in those gold caps for a fancy plate or cup from Coca-Cola.  I ended up buying 10 liters of Cokes over the course of this past week.  We went this morning, and it turns out the promotion ended today, but they had no more prizes.  It was pretty sad. So that was a waste of my money and now I'm a little bit chubbier from all the sugar and soda I drank, but you know, live and learn!

One night we tried everything we could do to be robbed.  We had a family home evening type of party with some members. (Noche de hogar) We played a game that was fun, had some food, and then we finished around 9:15pm.  We didn't have any money to take a taxi and the walk is about 45 minutes and so we started walking.  We took the wrong way.  We found some ladies in the corner of the street and asked them, "Hey, do you know how to get back to puerto espejo?" (do you know how to get to our home, this neighborhood?)  They told us, "Oh wow, that's super far!  And it's super dark. And it's Friday night, you guys should not be walking home."  We said, "Ah, well, we don't have any money, so we have to walk."

They said, "Okay, you gotta turn right here, then keep going straight. Do not go on the bridge, you will get robbed there.  Do not go on the bridge."  We said, "Okay, thank you" and left.  My comp and I looked at each other and said, "Well... let's go on the bridge."  (It was technically the shortest way home.) So we walked across the bridge.  There were some guys there, but they didn't rob us.  They just seemed confused two gringos were walking by.  They didn't even say anything to us.

As we continued on, there's a stadium here by where we live and we have to walk by it.  There were a lot of people there smoking, drinking, doing drugs.  But we walked straight through everybody and no one said a thing!  It was like we weren't even there. By this point it's about 9:45pm, and no one touched us.  My comp had to call some of the missionaries, so he takes out the phone and starts making phone calls. Nobody robbed us still.

I've been learning the new skill of spinning a basketball on my finger.  It's been fun.  We play basketball every morning during our exercise time.  As for the title of my email, there's a big singer here from Medellin, she's super famous, called Karol G.  Elder Bond and I only hear her music in the street sometimes, but we love it.  We say there's only two types of music: country and Karol G.

Recently I listened to a talk about integrity from this past conference, and I hope you all are getting ready for General Conference.  Bring some questions; it's gonna be awesome to listen to the prophet and all of his apostles. D&C 1:38 "Whether by mine own voice or the voice of my servants, it is the same."

Have a great week everybody!
Elder Bingham
