~La Costa~

 Hey everyone!

I'm serving right now in Monteria Sur, Edmundo Lopez 2 with Elder Martinez from Mexico! We get along good and we also have 2 other elders in the house that are super cool. Also, we live in the biggest, richest house in the mission haha. We have A/C in our room! It's such a blessing. We also have super cheap and amazing ice cream nearby so that's amazing.

From one end of the mission to another.  It took 2 days to get there. An 8-hour bus ride from Pereira to Medellin the first day, and then a 12-hour bus ride the 2nd day to Monteria.

The Coast! Everyone always talks about it in the mission haha. It's super hot, humid, and awesome. The food is way good, but I'm still yet to try fried fish which is apparently very common. Panceroti and jugo for like 2 bucks is the best thing ever!! The food at the coast is very good, and very cheap. There are lots of dirt roads, and all the buildings are only one story haha. It's suuuuper flat here too. Also they have bags of filtered water for 100 pesos and idk how much that is in US dollars but I think it's like 5 cents and man it's amazing.

The members that I have met are really fun and kind. But one day we were walking and from behind someone tried to grab my bag and run by, but then the guy turns around laughing and was just a member messing with us. Like bruh. It was literally my first day here.

This week I've been studying the New Testament and this was a verse I really liked. Mathew 10:38-39 (JST) "And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. 39: He who seeketh to save his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it."

The mission is amazing! I've really been loving it recently and learning the power of the Book of Mormon, the prophet José Smith, and the power of the Savior’s Atonement and the Sacrament. I have seen people change their lives for the gospel of Jesus Christ and find joy in it! It's also just fun to be here with all my new homies playing Risk and ukelele and fùtbol and everything. I'm looking forward to the rest of my time here in Monteria!
