Medellin Colombia
Finally!!! Some long days of travel and planes and bus rides without a phone, but I made it to Medellin and am currently serving in Cuba (Pereira) Colombia, a big city south of Medellin. There was about an 8 hour bus ride through the mountains and things to get there.

Shocker. It is a lot different here. My companion is Elder Salas, and he is from Peru and only speaks Spanish so I am going to learn quickly haha. This week has definitely felt the longest out of the whole mission. Lots of traveling and long days. But I made it!
The food is amazing! So far I've really liked everything. It has rained everyday I've been here but not for very long (an hour or so), and apparently it's like that all year long. I feel safer here than I did in Idaho, because I feel like an angry farmer is more likely to shoot me than anyone here lol.
Funny Things:
We sometimes take taxis if the walk is too far and we don't have much time. Yesterday we were waiting for one and then we left and I opened the door to the car right outside our apartment but turns out, it was in fact not a taxi and just some random guy. I felt very white in that moment.
It's weird because no matter where we are, there is always music blasting from somewhere. Either close or far, there is always someone playing music!
At night sometimes I hear some popping noises. I think (hope) it's just fireworks or something but I'm too scared to ask if its gunshots. But hey, my companion doesn't seem to worry so why should I?? Fun stuff, right?
Spiritual Things:
Elizabeth said she wants to get baptized November 8th!!! She has such a strong faith in Christ but wanted to be 100% sure that our church was the right one, and she went to the Catholic church and said that she didn't feel anything. It's so cool to see how God works with us all in different ways. She experienced what she needed to and now feels ready to be baptized in our church! She's the one person we've been consistently teaching in my time in Challis, so this was great news.
Last Monday a member literally texted us out of the blue and said that there is a couple at their house who wants to be baptized. They live in Stanley (an hour away), but we had never even met them before! It was the craziest thing. Things like that don't happen, especially in Challis!!! Good stuff.
| up in the mountains in Idaho and it started snowing |
Lots of people here say, "How are you?" and they answer "I'm good, thanks to God" which is something small, but I think it's cool that they attribute the good things to our Heavenly Father!
Didn't have a bunch of time to study this week because of so much travel, and I can feel it! The days where I get to study are the days that are the best. It's still been good, but I feel like I'm missing something and I'm excited to start studying everyday again.
Colombia!!!! So exciting!
