My homie Elder Bednar pulled up

 "Hey." - Miles Morales

This week has been good but also pretty repetitive.
Funny stuff:
  1. Bedtime stories from Elder Johnson (the 6'5 country boy with a thick accent and super deep voice from Tennessee)
    1. The story of his first kiss
    2. How he got his girlfriend back home to start liking him (he had to ask her out 5 times!)
    3. Some fights he got into
      1. "Why do you get in so many fights? Just talk it out and resolve it peacefully." -Elder Nelson
      2. "But it's the quickest way to resolve it." -Elder Johnson
  2. My roommate made a song called "Build bars and Benadryl" and it's about life in the MTC and how he wouldn't be able to make it through it without that stuff. It's kinda fire, but that might just be the fact that I haven't listened to good music in a month.
  3. Elder Connolly and I walked into the building with the cafeteria in it to grab dinner, and when we walked in an Elder was holding a paper towel to his bloody head and wiping his blood off the stairs with another paper towel. Turns out, you maybe shouldn't slide down the rails because your pants might catch and you can fall over and land on your head.
  4. We play basketball pretty much every day, and one day Elder Kempton said, "My tennis shoes aren't cutting it anymore. *pulls out his church shoes* I might have to whip out the Alma 4's"
  5. I have a slight problem. During personal study, or sometimes devotionals, I feel the Spirit so strongly and I feel so peaceful. I close my eyes to try to focus on that peaceful feeling, and next thing I know my companion is waking me up. It happens about once a day, but I guess that's just how the Spirit speaks to me.
Spiritual Stuff:
  1. Elder Bednar and his wife gave the devotional this week!! I'll share a few quotes from them
  2. Sister Bednar talked about how the most important prophet to us is the living prophet, because he tells us what we need to hear not what we want to hear. She also said that no matter how many times you have read the Book of Mormon, each time you read it you have a strengthened resolution to walk in obedience and have a stronger testimony.
  3. Elder Bednar talked all about repentance. He talks about how people repent of their sins without true faith and without turning to Christ, which isn't truly repenting. "True faith is focused in and on Jesus Christ." He said this 2 times so it might be kinda important. "Simply changing attitudes and behavior is not repentance." "You need to change your heart and rely on Christ." Repentance is one of the greatest sources of hope we have on the Earth and it's a joyful thing!
  4. On Sunday the whole focus of the day was about the power of the Book of Mormon. We listed all the blessings we heard from like 2 talks. Here are all the blessings of reading the BoM daily and prayerfully
    1. Make better decisions
    2. Heal your soul
    3. open heavens to receive answers
    4. help fight addiction
    5. joy in the home
    6. Kids are more submissive (when read as a family)
    7. Greater power to resist temptation
    8. Increases love for God
    9. Power to discern deception
    10. Charity
    11. Less contentious
    12. Comfort
So like. Read it.
