I'm Fluent Now

 Hello.

This week at the MTC was very boring and very fun. Classes have become verrrryyyy boring, there is so much to learn about Spanish, but I swear we do the same 3 lessons on a loop. Anyway. Funny things this week:
  • I was talking to another missionary after a devotional who said his older brother just got home from serving in Medellin Colombia and he was only robbed one time! So that made me feel much better. I was kinda expecting once a week typa stuff so, ya.
  • Funny story last night. It was about 10:45 pm and so our lights were out and we were trying to fall asleep. Then we hear this repeated banging on the door coming from the other room. It wasn't crazy loud but because everything was quiet it was very prominent. Then we hear some shouting of "Let me in right now or I swear I'm going to beat you guys up!" We figured it would stop soon, but after about 5 minutes of just straight banging on the door we finally decide to get out and tell them to stop and go to bed. We then walk out, and no one is in the hallway. It was coming from upstairs! So we go up there and see Elder Jeppeson (a guy in our district in the room next to us) banging on the door. He then looks at us by the stairs and realizes, "oh my gosh this is the wrong floor." How???? How do you walk upstairs and then forget you are up there. Elder Jeppeson said that he was getting ready to just go sleep on the couches. It was probably the funniest thing in the MTC so far.
  • Elder Connolly and I were studying on the 3rd floor and saw people mowing the lawns of the MTC. I brought it up and after looking at them for a second, Elder Connolly says "I just want to mow a lawn man. What is wrong with me!!" That's just life in the MTC. Class is so boring that we would rather be mowing a lawn.
Spiritual Stuff:
  • I made the goal to finish my Book of Mormon before I left the MTC. I was towards the end of 2nd Nephi on page 110 ish and there are around about 520 pages of the BoM. But each day I got up and wrote down how many chapters I needed to read, and each day I have been able to complete (or go over!) my daily goal. If you think about it, being in a new place, leaving family and friends behind, can't even leave for fast food because it is lowkey a prison here, I should be pretty dang sad. But I have been joyful every day and it has been because as I read the BoM daily, Christ has been next to me, comforting me and helping me get through this cheerfully!
  • My district went to the temple this morning, and I randomly opened up to D&C 100 and while reading it I really liked this scripture. Verse 11 says "Therefore, continue your journey and let your hearts rejoice; for behold, and lo, I am with you even unto the end." I felt so much peace and comfort knowing that Jesus Christ has my back and be joyful while doing the work! So many people just focus on how hard it is (and I'm sure it is...for them) but I just gotta "cheerfully do all things that lie in [my] power" D&C 123:17
  • have you read your scriptures today bro? if you ever need motivation just go look at my last email where I listed like 15 ways reading the BoM daily blesses us from President Nelson.
Pictures from the week:

Sarah arrived at the MTC last week and they have seen each other several times.  Here's the awkward "we can't put our arms around each other, don't smile" pose. 😏

Also, I do not yet have my visa for Colombia and I was reassigned to Idaho Falls. Although I really want to get out there in Colombia, there are some bright sides. I'm pretty sure it's still Spanish speaking and so I will be able to practice with people that will speak a little slower hopefully. I also can eat Chick-fil-a! Also, if I forgot anything my amazing mother can send it to me very easily. Also, I get 2 missions! But hopefully it's only one transfer and then in 6 weeks ish I can go to Colombia!!
read your scriptures and say your prayers every day!
nos vemos
